Casablanca (1946)
£8,995.00
Due to paper shortages during and after World War II, film posters like this Casablanca Belgium were printed on smaller paper sizes than before. This became typical during the war and in the immediate post-war period. A franked stamp on the bottom right indicates the duty was paid when the poster was first displayed, a regulation in Belgium at the time. The blank area at the top was for cinema screening details, partially covered by the frame.
Casablanca, directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, and others, remains the most famous film ever. After his success in The Maltese Falcon (1941), Casablanca solidified Bogart’s global stardom.
