Many original cinema posters issued before the mid 1980s were folded by the studios at the time of release, leaving visible creases. Linen backing involves mounting the poster on a high-quality linen or cotton canvas using an acid-free, fully reversible method. This strengthens the poster, minimises the appearance of fold lines and supports its long-term conservation.
